Travis Barker Recovering And Eating Meat

Former Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker, who's recovering from injuries suffered in a Sept. 19 private jet crash, has started eating meat again after being a vegetarian for more than 25 years.

"I need protein from food rather than just protein supplements," Barker told Us Weekly magazine. "I changed my diet.

"I would do anything I possibly could if they said like, 'There's a possibility you might heal faster if you do eat meat or just change your eating habits.' So I did. I don't regret it at all, I feel so much better."

Barker underwent numerous operations after suffering third-degree burns from his feet to his waist and one hand. The other hand received second-degree burns. He was originally hospitalized in Augusta, Ga., but was moved by bus (since he was too afraid to fly) to a burn centre closer to his Los Angeles home, where he's now being treated.

Barker's friend and occasional musical collaborator, DJ AM (real name Adam Goldstein), was also seriously burned in the wreck. He was released from hospital earlier, and friends including Mark Ronson, Cut Chemist, Danny Masterson, Mix Master Mike and Steve Aoki will perform at an Oct. 14 welcome-home party at the Avalon nightclub in Hollywood, Calif. Tickets will cost $20 and all proceeds will go to memorial funds for the four people who died in the plane crash.
