K-OS has signed with Universal Music Canada, via his newly created Crown Loyalist Recordings imprint, which will release his fourth album early next year.
The record is tentatively titled Yes!, but few other details are available since K-OS is still working on it. K-OS released 2004's Joyful Rebellion through Virgin Records, while 2006's Atlantis: Hymns For The Disco and his 2002 Exit debut came out through EMI Music Canada.
"As I get closer to realizing my new album, I'm doubly excited to have also found the right partner to assist me in sharing it with the world," K-OS says. "[Crown Loyalist Recordings] has been a vision of mine for years and will eventually be a platform for other artists in addition to being a home for my recordings."
K-OS will finish recording Yes! before he heads out on tour later this year. He posted this message (which has since been deleted) about the album earlier this year on his MySpace page:
"Vancouver mountains--> this is where i am RIGHT NOW. mixing and putting finaL touches on the new album entitled YES! break beats - strings- tabla's- and keyboard wizardy to be exposed.. NatGAt- ZebRoc- Russ- Ray - Santosh- Ian- Maury- SouLfingaz(Dave) - El Jay the Second- Holow Notes- Chris Gestrin- MetaL- ROGER SWAN- Kemo- Graham Pence- Jana- Feist- Justice Peroff- AZUREE- You Say Party - Samson- David Spencer... and the list goes on.. all these people are inspiring me right now.. So much Muse so much music i have no clue what this sounds like.. maybe if i threw all my albums in a juicer blended them down to a thick colloidal dispersion added- one melted down Vinyl LP record - one star wars action figurine -one fat gold chain -my left tretorn from highschooL and that thing that girL that she gave me then it MIGHT sound like that.. or maybe not.. ha.. coming soon!"
We hope K-OS figured out what the album sounds like. In the meantime, you can get Oktoberfest drunk with him at The Aud (Karlsberghaus) in Kitchener, Ont. on Oct. 15 along with Kardinal Offishall, Classified and Elise Estrada.
