A week after Johnny Cash Remixed hits stores, an album of Cash covers by punk acts will be released.
All Aboard: A Tribute To Johnny Cash is out on Oct. 21 on CD and vinyl through Anchorless Records. It features covers of Cash songs by the likes of Bouncing Souls, MxPx, The Dresden Dolls, The Flatliners and The Sainte Catherines. The songs range from Cash's first single, "Cry, Cry, Cry," to his final single, "God's Gonna Cut You Down," from 2006's posthumous release, American V: A Hundred Highways.
The compilation's goal is to introduce younger music fans to Cash's music through well-known punk artists. The liner notes feature quotes from every artist talking about what Cash's music means to them. All profits from sales of All Aboard will be donated to The Syrentha Savio Endowment, a non-profit group that provides underprivileged breast cancer patients with financial assistance.
