Arkells Visit Jackson Square

The Arkells will honour Jackson Square, a shopping mall in downtown Hamilton, when they release their debut full-length album named after it on Oct. 28.
The Dine Alone Records release was written in Hamilton and recorded in Toronto with producer Jon Drew (Tokyo Police Club, Fucked Up). Jackson Square features re-recordings of the five songs that originally appeared on their Deadlines EP, which came out in March, and seven new songs.
You can hear "John Lennon" and "Oh, The Boss Is Coming!" on their MySpace page.
Before they head out on the road with Matt Mays & El Torpedo, the Arkells will take part in War Child Canada's Busking For Change event. On Oct. 2 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., the Arkells will take to Toronto's streets and play their tunes to raise money for the non-governmental organization. More information is available on War Child Canada's website.
The Arkells will also travel to Brampton, Ont. to shoot a video on Oct. 5. Email arkellsmusic@hotmail.com if you're interested in being in the clip. While you won't get paid, their MySpace blog claims "Pizza will (most likely) be provided as compensation."
The Arkells formed in 2006. Since then, they've played with Tokyo Police Club, Cuff The Duke and Alexisonfire. Their lineup consists of singer/guitarist Max Kerman, guitarist Mike DeAngelis, bassist Nick Dika, keyboardist Dan Griffin and drummer Tim Oxford.
