Smashing Pumpkins are celebrating their 20th anniversary with a new two-DVD set and a five-week tour with multiple stops in many cities.
Toronto is one such metropolis. Venerable Massey Hall will host Pumpkins shows on Nov. 3 and 4, and the Chicago band promise that no songs will be duplicated from one evening to the next. They're calling night one "Black Sunshine" and night two "White Crosses."
"It certainly doesn't seem like 20 years," says drummer Jimmy Chamberlin. "The Pumpkins will always be about moving forward and, although I'm excited to play these shows, I'm just as excited to move our music into the next decade."
You'd think that would mean that there won't be new music from Chamberlin and singer/guitarist Billy Corgan until 2010, but their "G.L.O.W." single will be released via the Guitar Hero World Tour game on Oct. 26. The If All Goes Wrong DVD set will arrive in stores on Nov. 11.
Tickets for the Massey Hall shows go on sale at 10 a.m. on Saturday via Ticketmaster, the Roy Thomson Hall and Massey Hall websites, and the Roy Thomson Hall box office.
