Losing your voice is bad enough, but losing your voice and having to cancel tour dates is even worse.
Land Of Talk's Elizabeth Powell has lost her voice, and the band have cancelled their Canadian tour dates until the end of the month so she can heal.
"It gets worse before it gets better," Powell wrote in a friends-only MySpace blog entry. "Here are some more things that I cannot do: no alcohol. no caffeine (no chocolate!!), no dairy, no sugar, no "throat irritants" (?).
"The only silver lining I could find in this unfortunate cloud is that this could be my only time to press the 'reset' button on my health and sanity (interchangeable if you ask me) before the long haul of touring 'Some Are Lakes' for 10 months consecutively."
Along with earlier shows scheduled for Peterborough and Kingston, Ont. and Laval and Sherbrooke, Que., these Land Of Talk concerts have been cancelled:
Sept. 25 Guelph, ON @ Ebar
Sept. 26 Hamilton, ON @ The Casbah
Sept. 27 Toronto, ON @ Lee's Palace
These Land Of Talk shows are unaffected by Powell's loss of voice:
Nov. 6 Winnipeg, MB @ The Lo Pub
Nov. 7 Saskatoon, SK @ University Of Saskatchewan
Nov. 8 Edmonton, AB @ Pawn Shop
Nov. 9 Calgary, AB @ Broken City Social Club
Nov. 12 Vancouver, BC @ The Media Club
