Hardcore Hedley fans have another piece of merchandise to look forward to, and some of them are even part of it.
Hedley: Fan Lowdown is the first in a series of works by journalist Karen Bliss to be published by Inside Music Books that focuses on bands and their devoted followers. It's just arriving in stores and at online retailers and will also be sold at Hedley concerts. In-store book signings by the quartet are apparently in the works.
Bliss solicited stories from fans about their musical heroes via Hedley's online message board and mailing list and used them as the basis for the 64-page paperback book. There are anecdotes about getting Hedley tattoos, buying the band members thong underwear, using the group as the basis for a school project, people quitting their jobs to go to a gig and two young women discovering that they were sisters through their mutual interest in 2004 Canadian Idol third-place finisher Jacob Hoggard's pop-punk band.
Bliss then interviewed Hoggard and bandmates Tommy Mac, Dave Rosin and Chris Crippin individually about the fans' recollections to get their sides of the stories. The book is done in scrapbook style and includes hundreds of photos submitted by both fans and Hedley members.
Bliss hasn't yet confirmed what artists will be next in the series.
