Department Of Eagles' Ear Park

Department Of Eagles

Grizzly Bear guitarist Daniel Rossen and roommate Fred Nicolaus will release their second Department Of Eagles album, In Ear Park, on Oct. 7 through 4AD.

The 11-track LP was recorded last year in Brooklyn, New York and produced by Grizzly Bear's Chris Taylor, who also played on it. Grizzly Bear drummer Chris Bear also heavily contributed to the album, and former Dirty Projectors member Nat Baldwin added double bass. "No One Does It Like You" and the title track can be heard on Department Of Eagles' MySpace page.

"A lot of these songs felt way too personal to bring to Grizzly Bear — there's a lot of childhood nostalgia and an emphasis on more concise songwriting," says Rossen.

"Fred and I had license to try some things that I could never get away with otherwise, but we still went for the lushness and attention to sonic detail that Chris [Taylor] and I always want out of a recording."

Grizzly Bear opened for Radiohead earlier this summer and debuted a new song called "Two Weeks" when they played The Late Show With David Letterman in July. They're working on the follow-up to the critically acclaimed Yellow House, which singer Ed Droste told Billboard.com is "a bit sunnier than Yellow House." The disc could hit stores in the spring, but there's no definite release date yet.
