Last week, a UFO "expert" said he thought
Robbie Williams was a prime candidate for an alien abduction. We wonder if the singer heard about it and is scared that aliens are searching for him. That's the only reason we can come up with for why Williams was seen walking around in a gorilla suit on Tuesday.
The pop artist reportedly took to the streets of Los Angeles in a full gorilla suit and a pair of sunglasses, holding hands with a mystery woman, in what was apparently the first time he's left his mansion in more than three months.
That lack of sunshine and fresh air must have got to Williams because when he decided he needed some new clothes, he walked to a Hollywood store and, instead of purchasing a T-shirt or a pair of jeans, he decided looking like a simian was more his style.
"He spent a long time trying on various costumes but he chose the gorilla suit and bought it for $60," the store manager told the U.K.'s
Daily Star tabloid.
Williams has become increasingly reclusive and has reportedly become obsessed with aliens — so obsessed that it was the apparent cause of his break-up with actress Ayda Field. He's said to stay up late at night doing research on the internet about aliens and conspiracy theories. He also recently claimed he'd seen a UFO flying over a Californian hotel where he was staying.
Last week, an extraterrestrials "expert" said Williams' newfound obsession with aliens makes him a "point man for contact with extraterrestrials." This has led some to wonder whether Williams is now trying to conceal his identity from the pesky little green men.
"There seems to be no end to bizarre stories about Robbie just lately," a source told the
Daily Star. "The alien stuff has been rumbling away for ages.
"But going out in a gorilla costume — maybe he was trying to disguise himself from being abducted?
"If this recluse thing keeps up, he'll end up facing extinction like the gorillas."
Williams is working on his eighth studio album, which should be out sometime next year. His last release was 2006's
Rudebox.
