Ryan Adams frequently wore a Yes T-shirt during the tour for 2005's
Cold Roses. We wonder how much prog rock has influenced his forthcoming album because, with a title like
Cardinology, you get kind of suspicious.
Adams' third album with his band The Cardinals will be out Oct. 28 through Lost Highway. Lead single "Fix It" will be released on Sept. 23. Another track, "Stop," will be used in the Sept. 30 episode of A&E's
The Cleaner.
Adams will also publish his first book,
Infinity Blues, through Akashic Books on March 16. If you pre-order the book, beginning on Oct. 6 through the Akashic
website, you'll get a signed hardcover copy along with a bonus poetry book titled
Sad American Mythology. If the book's anything like Adams' blog, it should be an interesting read.
The prolific Adams was once a member of defunct alt.country band Whiskeytown and has released nine albums since 2000, three of which came out in 2005, and one of which Courtney Love claims was paid for using one of her credit cards — unbeknownst to her until recently. He also released an album with Jesse Malin under the moniker The Finger.

Ryan Adams' latest project isn't musical, and is quite possibly the nerdiest thing he's ever…
