Kaiser Chiefs Lose Their Heads

Kaiser Chiefs
It looks like Kaiser Chiefs may have run into some trouble from the angry mob that was featured in the title of their last disc, because they've titled their third album Off With Their Heads.

It's out Oct. 14 through Universal Motown and was produced by Mark Ronson (Lily Allen, Amy Winehouse) and Eliot James (Noah And The Whale, Does It Offend You, Yeah?). Off With Their Heads was recorded at London, England's RAK Studios and Eastcote Studios and was mixed by Andy Wallace (Nirvana, LCD Soundsystem). Lily Allen and members of New Young Pony Club appear on the record along with Sway and James Bond film scorer and Bjork arranger David Arnold. You can hear the single "Never Miss A Beat" and watch its accompanying music video on the band's MySpace page.

"We'd heard that Mark Ronson was keen to produce us and we had three new songs that we wanted to record," the band wrote in an Aug. 4 MySpace blog entry. "We also wanted to try working with someone who was relatively new in the producer world and Eliot James kept getting recommended to us.

"Due to the fact that time was not in abundance for anyone, we decided to all work together and see what happened. Those initial two weeks in February were so productive and enjoyable that we quickly had more songs and carried on, breaking off to write and rehearse back in Leeds and to see the world playing festivals. We never intended to make an album at first, in fact we were going to have a year off..."

Singer Ricky Wilson, guitarist Andrew "Whitey" White, bassist Simon Rix, keyboardist Nick "Peanut" Baines and drummer Nick Hodgson started playing together in 1996. Their Employment debut came out in 2005 and was nominated for that year's Nationwide Mercury Prize. Yours Truly, Angry Mob followed last year and yielded the song "Ruby," which hit #1 in the U.K.

Kaiser Chiefs will play Toronto's Mod Club on Nov. 18.
