Bob Mould has fronted some of the most important punk and alternative rock bands of the past few decades and is now also a successful solo artist who has influenced many other musicians. He'll extend his reach further when he documents his life and career in his autobiography, which will be published in 2010.

Mould will work on the memoir with Michael Azerrad, who wrote Come As You Are: The Story Of Nirvana. The book will be published by Little, Brown And Company. It will examine Mould's career as a member of Husker Du and Sugar, his solo and production work, and his involvement in professional wrestling. It'll also delve into Mould's struggle with his sexual orientation and how he eventually came out as gay.

"For many years, people have asked if and when I would write my autobiography," Mould says. "I have always looked forward to this point in time, where I could tell my stories, to answer the many questions about the music and the lifestyle, and how they inform the creative process.

"I have not been alone on this ride: friends and foes, mentors and associates, peers, lovers, all traveling by my side. The ride so far has been incredible, and I hope to do my memory right in documenting the journey."

Mould founded Husker Du with Grant Hart and Greg Norton in 1979. The Minneapolis band released six influential and critically acclaimed full-length albums. Mould launched his solo carer after the band broke up in 1988, and his most recent solo release is this year's District Line. Mould also formed the alt.rock power trio Sugar, with whom he released three studio albums, in the early '90s. He has also produced albums by Soul Asylum and Magnapop.
