Have A Merry Colbert Christmas

Feist and Stephen Colbert

What do you do when you're snowed in at a cabin in upstate New York, which is full of bears? If you're Stephen Colbert, you call Feist, Elvis Costello, Toby Keith, John Legend, Willie Nelson and Jon Stewart to help you get through the storm and then make a Christmas special about it.

The hour-long A Colbert Christmas: The Greatest Gift Of All will air on Comedy Central in the U.S. on Nov. 23 (and probably in Canada around the same time), and will be released on DVD two days later through Comedy Central Home Entertainment and Paramount.

All the guests perform Costello's Nick Lowe-written hit "(What's So Funny 'Bout) Peace, Love And Understanding," and each will join Colbert on an original song written by Fountains Of Wayne bassist Adam Schlesinger and The Daily Show executive producer David Javerbaum.

Costello and Colbert join forces on "There Are Much Worse Things To Believe In," Nelson joins in on "Little Dealer Boy," Legend links up for "Nutmeg" and Stewart will sing "Hanukkah" with Colbert. Feist sings "Please Be Patient" and Keith offers "Have I Got A Present For You." Colbert takes the solo spotlight on "Another Christmas Song."

The DVD will come bundled with a bunch of bonus features, including a video advent calendar, alternate endings and a book-burning yule log. A portion of the sales proceeds will go to Feeding America, formerly known as America's Second Harvest, a group which works to feed hungry people in the U.S. through a network of food banks.
