While U2 are holed up in a French studio recording the follow-up to 2004's How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb, they're content to reissue the heck out of their catalogue.
They've already reissued 1980's Boy, 1981's October and 1983's War this year. Now they're about to release a remastered version of the live Under A Blood Red Sky and an accompanying DVD titled Live At Red Rocks.
Both the live album and DVD will hit stores on Sept. 30. Under A Blood Red Sky originally came out in 1983 and was recorded in the U.S. and Germany when the band were touring in support of War. It'll be available on CD and vinyl.
Live At Red Rocks was originally recorded on June 5, 1983 when the band played Denver, Colo.'s Red Rocks Amphitheatre. The long out-of-print VHS version will be reissued on DVD with five previously unreleased songs and other goodies like a director's commentary.
As for that new U2 album, Bono says the songs sound a bit more like earlier material and that the disc should be out sometime next year.
"It's a brand new chapter for us, and everyone we've played the tracks to has said that musically it feels like another departure," Bono says, according to U2's website. "The last two records were very personal, with a kind of three piece at their heart, the primary colours of rock — bass, guitars and drum. But what we're about now is of the same order as the transition that took us from The Joshua Tree to Achtung Baby."
Here's what's on Live At Red Rocks:
"Out Of Control"
"Twilight"
"An Cat Dubh"
"Into The Heart"
"Surrender"
"Two Hearts Beat As One"
"Seconds"
"Sunday Bloody Sunday"
"Cry"
"The Electric Co."
"October"
"New Year's Day"
"I Threw A Brick Through A Window"
"A Day Without Me"
"Gloria"
"Party Girl"
"11 O'Clock Tick Tock"
"I Will Follow"
"'40'"
