YSP! WSD! Go Disney!

Vancouver-via-Abbotsford, B.C. quintet You Say Party! We Say Die! are mixing up their sound in more ways than one.

The dance-punks recently digitally released Remik's Cube, a remixed version of their Lose All Time sophomore effort. While their label, Paper Bag Records, got the ball rolling, YSP! were given free rein with the project.

"Basically, we were being given lots of remixes," says frontwoman Becky Ninkovic. "They kept coming in."

"We got to be like curators and sort of picked and chose the ones that we liked," says bassist Stephen O'Shea.

While the band sifted through numerous submitted remixes, they also handpicked a few local artists to do remixes, including drummer Devon Clifford's roommate, S-2, Andy Dixon and Fake Shark - Real Zombie's Kevin Maher.

While they're launching a massive cross-Canada tour on Sept. 13 in support of Remik's Cube, YSP! won't be heading south of the border anytime soon – not until 2011, to be exact. On their last attempt to tour the U.S., they didn't get the proper paperwork beforehand and were prevented from entering.

"We tried to get through on the fact that we were just going to record in L.A., because we did have recording time booked in L.A.," says Ninkovic. "And they found out that we had shows booked too, and that wasn't so good for us. We'll tell all information from now on."

"We will tell them intimate details about our lives," says Clifford. "Like this morning, for breakfast, I didn't put maple syrup on my eggs.

"There's a lot of things I didn't put on my eggs. Want to hear them all?"

You might not be interested in hearing a meandering list of things in Clifford's fridge, but you might want to know more about the group's upcoming third album that they're currently working on.

"It's going really good," says Ninkovic. "We've got about 10 songs in the works right now. I've got like hundreds up my sleeves that these guys don’t even know about."

After they break into an impromptu rendition of The Little Mermaid's "Under The Sea," O'Shea says they're planning on re-soundtracking the popular kids movie and are "moving on to Disney."

"You might as well just call me Ariel," adds Ninkovic.

"It's part of our over-arching scheme of things to make music for movies," continues O'Shea. "What do we call it? Destiny music.

"You know in film when there's this really heart-wrenching moment and the music plays and everything is glorious? Well, we're transitioning from dance-punk to, by the end of our career, we'll be this destiny music. That's the plan."
