High Dials Trip Through Moon Country

The High Dials
Montreal's The High Dials will unleash more of their neo-psychedelic pop when they independently release Moon Country on Sept. 23.

The album was produced by Joseph Donovan (Sam Roberts, The Dears) and was recorded in a stone cottage in Ireland and the band's hometown. Moon Country will simulate a vinyl LP by placing silence between "Seagull Blues" and "Open Up The Gates" to split the record into two "sides."

"We like having silence between two pieces of music, the way it used to be on LPs," the band wrote in a May 19 MySpace blog entry. "In our minds, this is not a double album, however on vinyl it will probably need two records."

You can hear six songs from Moon Country on The High Dials' MySpace page.

The High Dials were originally known as The Datsons when they formed in 2000. They released two albums as The Datsons before they changed their name to The Datson Four and then settled on The High Dials. Their most recent release is last year's The Holy Ground EP. They're composed of singer/guitarist Trevor Anderson, guitarist Robbie MacArthur, bassist/vocalist Seamus Cowen, drummer Max Hebert and keyboardist/vocalist Eric Dougherty.
