Blitzen Trapper Show Their Furr

Blitzen Trapper
Reindeer are pretty furry creatures, and that might be the inspiration behind the title of Blitzen Trapper's fourth album, Furr. It's due on CD and vinyl on Sept. 23 through Sub Pop.

The album was produced by singer/songwriter/guitarist Eric Earley and mostly recorded in the group's studio at Sally Mack's School Of Dance, which is housed in an old telegraph building by the Willamette River in Portland, Ore. Earley wrote and recorded most of Furr on an old, out of tune piano that the band discovered at the dance school and later brought into the studio.

Blitzen Trapper formed in Portland in 2000 and released their self-titled debut three years later. They've since released two more albums, the latest of which is last year's self-released Wild Mountain Nation. Blitzen Trapper's lineup currently includes Earley, guitarist/vocalist Eric Menteer, drummer/vocalist Brian Koch, bassist Michael Van Pelt, keyboardist Drew Laughery and keyboardist/vocalist Marty Marquis.
