David Byrne and Brian Eno's My Life In The Bush Of Ghosts was a critical favourite when it came out in 1981, and it was reissued as an expanded 25th anniversary edition two years ago. It's about time that the two men released another album, isn't it?
Well, they finally have. Everything That Happens Will Happen Today will be made available through the album's website on Aug. 18. A free download of "Strange Overtones" will be offered two weeks earlier.
Everything That Happens Will Happen Today will be available as a free stream or to purchase as a download or in physical formats. There will be regular and deluxe CD editions with enhanced discs and a download of the album, which Eno has described as "electronic gospel." The deluxe package will feature artwork by Stefan Sagmeister.
"For the most part, Brian did the music and I wrote some tunes, words and sang," wrote Byrne on the album's website. "It's familiar but completely new as well. We're pretty excited."
My Life In The Bush Of Ghosts combined elements of funk, African, ambient and electronic music along with sampled voices. Cardboard boxes and frying pans sometimes replaced drums as percussion instruments on the groundbreaking record.
Byrne and a backing band will launch a tour in September where they'll play material from Everything That Happens Will Happen Today as well as music from his past Eno collaborations, including Talking Heads' More Songs About Buildings And Food, Fear Of Music and Remain In Light albums.
Here are the songs on Everything That Happens Will Happen Today:
"Home"
"My Big Nurse"
"I Feel My Stuff"
"Everything That Happens"
"Life Is Long"
"The River"
"Strange Overtones"
"Wanted For Life"
"One Fine Day"
"Poor Boy"
"The Lighthouse"
