Glasgow, Scotland post-rockers Mogwai will follow their recently released deluxe reissue of their Mogwai Young Team debut with new material on The Hawk Is Howling.

The 63-minute album, slated for a Sept. 23 release through Matador Records, was recorded by past collaborator Andy Miller (Sons And Daughters, Scout Niblett) at Hamilton, Scotland's Chem 19 studio in February. Tony Doogan (Belle & Sebastian, The Delgados) recorded one of the 10 tracks at Mogwai's Castle Of Doom studio last summer. The Hawk Is Howling was mixed by Gareth Jones at Castle Of Doom in March and mastered by Sean Magee at London, England's Abbey Road Studios in April.

"The Sun Smells Too Loud" can be previewed on Mogwai's MySpace page.

Bassist Dominic Aitchison, guitarist Stuart Braithwaite, guitarist John Cummings and drummer Brendan O'Hare comprised the lineup for 1997's Mogwai Young Team. O'Hare left after that album and guitarist/flautist/pianist Barry Burns joined prior to recording the group's second album, 1999's Come On Die Young. That lineup, with drummer Martin Bulloch, has played on all four Mogwai albums since then.
