Kid Rock Waffles On Sentence

Kid Rock's scuffle at an Atlanta Waffle House last October will cost him both time and money after he was sentenced for a misdemeanor battery charge on Tuesday.
The singer (real name Robert James Ritchie) was fined $1,000 and placed under probation for a year. He must also serve 80 hours of community service and receive six hours of anger-management counselling. He'll only be permitted to pour syrup on his waffles when in the presence of a court-appointed guardian (OK, he was let off the hook on that last one).
Rock and five members of his entourage got into an altercation with Harlen Akins over a woman in the Waffle House parking lot, and Akins allegedly broke one of the restaurant's windows. Pamela Anderson's ex-husband and his buddies then jumped on their tour bus and drove away, but were pulled over by police and arrested a mile down the road. Rock spent 12 hours in jail before being released on a $1,000 bond.
After Rock pleaded no contest to simple battery, four other counts of battery were dismissed. Band members Jason E. Krause and James W. Murphy also pleaded no contest and received similar sentences as their frontman, while charges against the three other men were dropped.
Rock tried to show what a good guy and dedicated Waffle House patron he was when he signed autographs at another franchise location in March. He had also planned to serve food, but restaurant management couldn't find a hair net large enough to contain his ego.
Rock's lawyer, Darryl Cohen, told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution that his client was "not terribly unhappy" with the sentence, but still doesn't believe he was at fault.
"He would have liked to have tried it. He came within a hairbreadth of going to trial."
Rock completed a western Canada tour with Matt Mays & El Torpedo on July 16. No food fights were reported.
