Vancouver's Octoberman released their Run From Safety album almost a year ago, but band leader Marc Morissette and multi-instrumentalist C.L. McLaughlin (Panurge, The National Shield) will showcase some of the band's quieter numbers on a 10-date Canadian tour.
Morissette will follow those dates with a number of solo shows in Europe, and plans are in the works for Octoberman to support Toronto's FemBots on a coast-to-coast Canadian tour in the fall. Octoberman have been recording a new album at Ottawa's Little Bullhorn Studios with producer Dave Draves (Kathleen Edwards, Jim Bryson) and with producer Larry Crane (Cat Power, Stephen Malkmus) at his Jackpot! Recording Studio in Portland, Ore.
"we just finished mixing 8 songs w/ dave draves in Ottawa," Morissette wrote in a May 22 MySpace blog post. "things are sounding different: more live/raw/noisy/moody/choppy. still gonna do some quieter numbers w/ larry crane in portland in july to make it round."
Here are Octoberman's Canadian dates:

Aug. 3 Edmonton, AB @ Wunderbar
