Burt Bacharach, Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds, Dan Deacon, Michie Mee, Crystal Castles and Hot Chip are among the acts confirmed to play this year's Pop Montreal International Music Festival, which runs from Oct. 1 to 5 at various venues throughout the city.
Festival passes are on sale now for $70. Tickets will also be available for individual shows. If you're an industry type, you can get an early bird industry pass for $175 until Aug. 31. After that, they'll run you $225 until Sept. 30, when they'll cost you $275.
In addition to the musical performances, Pop Montreal will feature a commissioned composers' series featuring pieces by Montreal DJ Socalled and other artists performed at the Cinema L'Amour porn theatre. Kids Pop will feature shows, demonstrations and workshops aimed at connecting children with performers and artists to foster artistic expression. Film Pop will showcase work by Vincent Moon (the creator of the online Take Away Show video series). Puces Pop — a D.I.Y festival with a marketplace, record sale, gear swap, workshops, seminars and a fashion show — will return for a fourth year.
