Doherty Arrest Warrant Withdrawn

Pete Doherty
British police were after Pete Doherty again after he failed to show up at a court hearing for the second time. Magistrates in Yeovil, England issued a warrant for Doperty's arrest on Thursday after he didn't attend a scheduled appearance at a court there to answer criminal damage charges. But it was withdrawn just hours after it was issued.

"The matter has been resolved and the warrant has been withdrawn," a spokesperson for Doherty told NME.com.

Last summer, photographer Cath Mead claimed Doperty chased her into a shop and pulled her camera from her neck while she took photos of him and his girlfriend, Canadian model Irina Lazareanu, to whom he was briefly engaged. Mead claims he caused more than 200 pounds (about $400 Canadian) damage to her camera.

"I assume that this is the correct address we have for Mr. Doherty," chairman of the bench Nick Bernard said on Thursday. "He should have, therefore, received the letters stating when he should attend court."

Doperty was due in court to answer charges related to the case on June 26, but also failed to appear then. Though he was jailed in April for breaching his probation after various drug and driving offenses, he's stayed out of trouble for the most part since he was released in May after spending seven weeks behind bars. He was sentenced to 14 weeks, but was granted an early release due to overcrowding at London's Wormwood Scrubs prison.

But that doesn't mean the Babyshambles frontman hasn't been doing anything weird. Back in May, he and gal pal Amy Winehouse played with mice in a creepy video. That isn't Doperty's only bizarre animal adventure. He allegedly plans to turn the ashes of his dead cat Shelley into a diamond ring to try and win ex-girlfriend Kate Moss back. Shelley was Moss' favourite of Doperty's pets. Doperty and Moss split last summer, but he's apparently been sending her late-night text messages and trying to reconcile.

Doperty plans to release a solo album sometime this year that will likely include the tracks "Broken Love Song," "Darksome Sea," "Salome" and "Withdrawn And Shaken." A postcard he created using his own blood will be raffled off at an auction in his hometown of Marlborough, England. Given his drug problems and general lack of hygiene, is a postcard streaked with Doperty's blood really something that should be offered to the public?
