Wynn Crosses Dragon Bridge

Steve Wynn
Crossing Dragon Bridge, Steve Wynn's first solo studio album since 2001's Here Come The Miracles, will receive a North American release through Rock Ridge Music on Sept. 9.

The album, which came out in Europe earlier this year, was recorded in producer and Walkabouts member Chris Eckman's home studio in Ljubljana, Slovenia during three weeks last September. A Slovenian women's choir, an eight-piece Czech orchestra, drummer (and Wynn's girlfriend) Linda Pitmon, guitarist Kirk Swan, keyboardist Chris Cacavas and The Teenage Prayers lead singer Tim Adams later added to the bed tracks performed by Wynn and Eckman. Crossing Dragon Bridge was mixed in January by Tucker Martine (The Decemberists, Sufjan Stevens).

"I would say that this record sounds like nothing I've done before, but it also sounds more like me than anything I've done before," says Wynn. "I was able to follow the same reckless and spontaneous flights of fancy that I would normally only feel safe enough to indulge myself at home. But Chris was a great co-conspirator and helped me to empty out the insides of my skull onto the tracks."

Wynn first came to prominence with The Dream Syndicate's landmark 1982 album, The Days Of Wine And Roses. The band released three more studio albums before breaking up in 1989. Wynn issued his Kerosene Man solo debut in 1990 and has continued to record and perform with his band The Miracle 3 since then. He's also been a member of Gutterball, Danny & Dusty, Smack Dab, Hazel Motes and, most recently, The Baseball Project, whose Volume One: Frozen Ropes And Dying Quails debut was released by Yep Roc on July 8.
