New Pornographers' Charitable Update

After cancelling European dates this month, The New Pornographers will perform more American shows and headline their own Stanley Park Singing Exhibition in Vancouver later this summer before flying down to Australia and playing their first New Zealand shows in October.

Singer/keyboardist Kathryn Calder (who's also in Immaculate Machine) recently designed a T-shirt for the Yellow Bird Project, which makes shirts to benefit charities. All the proceeds from Calder's T will go to the ALS Society Of B.C. You can order the shirt here for $25 U.S.

Male Fantasy, the 2004 film written and directed by New Pornographers synthesizer player Blaine Thurier, was recently released on DVD. The movie features Pornographers bassist John Collins and original music from Pornos frontman A.C. Newman and the Sun City Girls.

The New Pornographers will announce another guest for the Aug. 31 to Sept. 1 Stanley Park Singing Exhibition within a few weeks. You can see all the band's dates on their website.
