Earlier this year, EMI drew
Radiohead's ire when the label announced it would issue a boxed set of all of the British group's albums, a
best-of collection and
a DVD of the band's music videos. Radiohead had split with the label, and didn't approve of the releases.
Now, Capitol/EMI is reissuing five Radiohead albums, two
Coldplay discs and LPs by John Lennon, R.E.M. and other acts on vinyl on Aug. 19 as part of a new series called "From The Capitol Vaults." Nobody buys CDs anymore, so you might as well get yourselves some LPs.
Radiohead's
The Bends,
Amnesiac,
Hail To The Thief,
Kid A,
OK Computer, Bob Seger's
Live Bullet and Nine Tonight, and A Perfect Circle's
Mer De Noms will all get the reissue treatment as 140-gram double vinyl LPs. Coldplay's
Parachutes and
A Rush Of Blood To The Head, the Steve Miller Band's
Greatest Hits 1974-78, John Lennon's
Imagine, R.E.M.'s
Document, Wings'
Band On The Run, The Beach Boys'
Pet Sounds and Jimi Hendrix's
Band Of Gypsys will be repressed as single-disc 180-gram vinyl LPs. All the reissues will come with colour labels and printed sleeves that will try to remain faithful to their original versions.
Capitol/EMI plans to reissue Radiohead's
Pablo Honey at a later date.
