Quest For Psych-Rock Fire

Quest For Fire used to just refer to either the 1911 novel by J.-H. Rosny or the 1981 film based on that tome. But Quest For Fire is now also a Toronto stoner rock/neo-psychedelic rock band whose self-titled debut comes out on Aug. 12 through Storyboard Records.

The six-track record is the result of the demise of The Deadly Snakes and Cursed, two outfits which formerly featured Quest For Fire members. The quartet have performed together since last summer, but their genesis dates back to a year earlier when they began working on their trippy songs in their practice space near Toronto's lakeshore. Quest For Fire includes guitarist Andrew Moszynski (formerly known as Andrew Gunn) and guitarist/singer Chad Ross, who were both in The Deadly Snakes. Ex-Cursed drummer Mike Maxymuik and No No Zero bassist Josh Bauman round out the lineup. They've opened for Black Mountain, Ladyhawk, Eric's Trip, Attack In Black and Pride Tiger.
