Matt Mays Gets Kicked Out Of MuchMusic Video Awards

Rocker Matt Mays learned first-hand about the hierarchy of the MuchMusic Video Awards on Sunday night.

While Mays was warmly welcomed on the red carpet as he made a grand entrance with the likes of Simple Plan, Melanie C and even the dubious Girlicious during the Much-aired pre-awards show, the hospitality he was shown later on in the evening wasn't as generous. The wristbands people are given as they enter the Much environment are colour-coded according to your perceived importance, and there are repercussions if you're spotted sporting the wrong shade. Mays, who helped set a bar sale record at the Horseshoe Tavern with his Saturday night performance, was apparently at a bar he shouldn't have been on Sunday.

"Apparently I could walk the red carpet, but I wasn't allowed to be on a certain floor," Mays said on Monday afternoon. "I was just on a floor with about 300 people on it and having a good time, and then I went to pee. Then the next thing I knew, there were two bouncers throwing me out in the back alley.

"I had such a great entrance, but the exit was really not that cool. I was just having a couple of drinks with my friends. So that's what I was doing last night, getting kicked out of the MMVAs."
