Angels & Airwaves New Documentary

After Blink-182 went on hiatus in 2005, bassist Mark Hoppus formed +44. Guitarist Tom DeLonge withdrew from press interviews, spent a lot of time in the studio and said very little about what he was doing. He didn't reveal his post-Blink plans until later that year in an interview with the U.K.'s Kerrang! magazine, when he said he'd formed a new band called Angels & Airwaves.
A lot of unanswered questions surround the break-up of Blink-182 and the recording of Angels & Airwaves' 2006 debut, We Don't Need To Whisper. Those questions will be answered (at least from DeLonge's perspective) with the release of a new documentary called Start The Machine, which will hit Canadian stores on DVD on July 15. It's been out in the U.S. since June 17. You can see the trailer at Angels & Airwaves' MySpace page.
The 72-minute Start The Machine was filmed over three years. DeLonge and Angels & Airwaves guitarist David Kennedy personally contacted director Mark Eaton and asked him to begin making the film in 2005. The two trusted Eaton with all its contents and hadn't seen any of it before it premiered on June 14 in Encinitas, Calif. Start The Machine chronicles Blink-182's break-up, the recording of We Don't Need To Whisper and DeLonge's battle with his addiction to pain killers. It also features live footage from Angels & Airwaves' first headlining tour.
In addition to DeLonge and Kennedy, Angels & Airwaves also include bassist Adam Wachter and drummer Adam "Atom" Willard. Their most recent album is last year's I-Empire.
