Fucked Up Re-Releasing "Year Of The Pig"

Although Fucked Up's "Year Of The Pig" single was released on 12-inch vinyl last year by What's Your Rupture? Records, the Toronto punk band will re-release it on seven-inch vinyl and as an EP through What's Your Rupture? and Matador Records on July 22.
The EP will be available in CD format and feature the original 18-minute title track, different edits of it and three unreleased songs. The original 12-inch of "Year Of The Pig" backed with "The Black Hats" will also be re-released. Three seven-inch edited versions of "Year Of The Pig" will be available for North America, the U.K. and Japan. They'll each be backed with new tracks.
"Year Of The Pig" is about serial killer Robert William Pickton, a Vancouver area pig farmer who was found guilty of the second-degree murder of six Vancouver women, some of whom were sex workers. Pickton has also been charged with the murders of 20 other women. When Fucked Up released "Year Of The Pig" last year, they raised $4,000 for Toronto's Sex Professionals Of Canada, a charity which works to make prostitution safer for sex workers.
Fucked Up are preparing a full-length album titled The Chemistry Of Common Life, which will be released through Matador sometime in October. The band recently fooled those wanting to hear the record early when they posted a link on their blog to what they said was a finished version of the disc. But if you downloaded it, you got Cut Copy's In Ghost Colours instead.
Fucked Up will play these three shows during the Sled Island festival this month:
June 27 Calgary, AB @ Vern'sJune 28 Calgary, AB @ Royal Canadian Legion
June 29 Calgary, AB @ Palomino Smokehouse
