Get Reatarded With Jay Reatard Compilation

Jay Reatard

The only way you were previously able to get your hands on Jay Reatard singles was to either buy them when they first came out (which may have been difficult) or get them later off eBay (which was probably frustrating). That's about to change, since In The Red Records is issuing a CD/DVD set of Reatard's out-of-print singles on June 17.

Singles 06-07 features 17 cuts from the Memphis scene-kid puncher and shirt-ripper, who recorded, mixed and mastered them himself. It also includes a DVD with four of Reatard's shows filmed in Philadelphia, Las Vegas, New York and the Netherlands (that means this one isn't included... but should be). That basically means you'll probably get about six to eight songs on the DVD, as Reatard gigs usually only last for about 15 minutes before things get out of control.

The latest of Reatard's seven-inch Matador singles (his third for the label), "Always Wanting More," is out on June 24. It's backed with "You Mean Nothing To Me" and will be available for pre-order through the Matador web store. Matador also plans to release a compilation of Reatard's seven-inch singles in September, and his full-length debut for the label will be out sometime next year.

You can see Reatard with Les Savy Fav at Vancouver's Commodore Ballroom on July 26. We make no guarantees about whether he will or won't punch an audience member and walk out mid-set.

Here's what's on Singles 06-07:
