Mogwai will usher in the release of their sixth studio album with the Batcat EP, due out on Sept. 9 through Matador.

The EP includes three tracks and precedes The Hawk Is Howling, the new Mogwai album scheduled to arrive on Sept. 23. Former 13th Floor Elevators frontman Roky Erickson added vocals to Batcat's "Devil Rides."

The Hawk Is Howling was recorded at Chem19 Studios in Hamilton, Scotland and was produced by Andy Miller, who helmed Mogwai's 1997 Young Team debut album.

Mogwai's former label, Chemikal Underground, will reissue Young Team with bonus material on June 17. The extras include previously unreleased tracks, radio sessions and a cover of Spacemen 3's "Honey." It will be available as a double CD or four-LP vinyl set.

Mogwai will play Calgary's Sled Island Festival on June 28 and Toronto's Phoenix Concert Theatre on June 30.
