Don't expect the same crowd you find at Toronto's Everything To Do With Sex Show at Vancouver's The New Pornographers' festival this summer.
Even though Neko Case was asked to pose nude in Playboy after she was voted the sexiest babe in indie rock five years ago, The Stanley Park Singing Exhibition is much more about music than exposed flesh (though don't be surprised if some west coast hippies in the audience lose their laundry).
The two-day festival will be headlined by The New Pornographers and feature a supporting cast of acts chosen by the group, including Destroyer, The Evaporators, The 1900s and Visqueen. It all takes place at Stanley Park's Malkin Bowl on Aug. 31 and Sept. 1.
Tickets cost $37 per day. While they go on sale on Friday, a limited amount were made available on Wednesday.
Attendees will also be asked to make donations to two charities: The ALS Society Of Canada and the Urban Native Youth Association. Exclusive T-shirts, tote bags, autographed posters and limited-edition prints will be sold, and all of the profits will be channeled to the two organizations.
The Pornographers will play Calgary's Virgin Festival on June 22 and a make-up date at Winnipeg's Pantages Playhouse Theatre with Novillero on June 24 before performing a handful of European and American shows ahead of their fest.
