Paul Weller's Dreamy New Album

Paul Weller

The Modfather is back. Paul Weller will lace up his Brogues, don a new suit and return to record stores on June 17 when he releases 22 Dreams through Island U.K.

The 21-track record (apparently the 22nd "dream" got lost) is Weller's first new studio effort since 2005's As Is Now. While it's long enough to be a double album, 22 Dreams will be released as a single disc in North America.

Former Blur guitarist Graham Coxon contributed to the album, and Oasis' Noel Gallagher and Gem Archer can be heard on "Echoes Round The Sun." Weller sang backing vocals on Oasis' chart-topping "Champagne Supernova" and Gallagher played guitar on Weller's 1995 album, Stanley Road.

After disbanding The Jam and The Style Council, Weller released his self-titled solo debut in 1992. It was followed by seven more albums. Oasis, Blur and Ocean Colour Scene are among those who cite him as a major influence.

Weller will appear at Toronto's Virgin Festival on Sept. 7.
