Montreal ska and reggae enthusiasts One Night Band are heading into the studio to record their sophomore record, which they hope will be out this October.
The band will begin recording the album at Montreal's Indygene studios in early June. The record will be produced by Aggrolites guitarist Brian Dixon and released by Stomp. The new disc doesn't have a title yet, but the band plan to document the recording process in video and will eventually upload short clips to their YouTube channel.
"We've always admired Brian's work," says vocalist Alex Giguere. "He's recorded so many artists we grew up listening to, so we're really looking forward to be teaming up with him to record our next record. We really think he'll be able to add a touch of his magic to our songs."
One Night Band originally formed for a one-off benefit gig in 2003. They eventually discovered they enjoyed playing Toots And The Maytals and Skatalites songs together and became a more permanent act. Their Way Back Home debut came out via Stomp in 2006.
One Night Band's lineup includes Giguere (vocals, guitar), Pascal Lesieur (bass), Steve Dumas (drums), Larry Love (organ) and Chrissy Charbonneau (tenor saxophone).
One Night Band will be on the road for a good chunk of the summer for shows throughout Ontario and Quebec, as well as two appearances with the Warped Tour. You can see them here:
