Constantines' Kensington Heights Still #1

Hail Destroyer

Constantines' first album in three years, Kensington Heights, remains atop the Canadian campus radio chart for the third straight week. The Black Keys' Attack & Release has been bouncing up and down within the top 10 for three weeks, and now it rises four places to #2. Islands' Arm's Way drops a spot to #3 and is followed by Portishead's Third, which rockets up 20 positions. Crystal Castles' self-titled album drops a notch to #5, while Tokyo Police Club's Elephant Shell rises two positions to #6. The eponymous release from Flight Of The Conchords drops four spots to #7, and the Teenage Head With Marky Ramone album moves up a place to #8. The Ramblin' Ambassadors's Vista Cruiser Country Squire ramps it up 17 spots to #9 and The Wet Secrets' Rock Fantasy climbs eight places to #10.

The majority of the next 15 albums have only shifted two to five positions from last week. The biggest changes are Woodhands' Heart Attack jumping 10 places to #17 and Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds' Dig, Lazarus Dig!!! dropping nine spots to #14.

The Chart Sizzler Award goes to a relatively old album, as Cancer Bats' Hail Destroyer enters at #26. This album has been charting on the Metal/Punk top 10 for a month. Matmos' Supreme Balloon is the next highest new entry at #35. It's followed by Death Cab For Cutie's highly anticipated Narrow Stairs at #36.

A couple of releases have put in substantial time on the chart. Black Mountain's In The Future, a long-running former #1 album, has been on the chart for 17 weeks. It drops 14 places to #43 this week. The only other album nearing this length of time in the top 50 is Plants And Animals' Parc Avenue, which has lasted 14 weeks. It tumbles 34 places to #45.

While the top 50 chart is trapped in a pre-summer malaise, some real action is taking place on the specialty charts. While two of the five feature the same #1 albums as last week — Testament's The Formation Of A Damnation on Metal/Punk and Rabnett 5's Leopardism on Jazz/Blues — the other three charts have some fresh meat at #1. Atmosphere's When Life Gives You Lemons, You Paint That Shit Gold rises a place to grab top honours on the Hip-Hop chart. The Manoeuvres 2: A Collection Of Vancouver Electronica compilation moves up four spots to take over #1 on the Electronic chart. The Nigeria 70: Lagos Jump compilation parachutes in from off the chart to land at #1 on World/Folk.
