Wintersleep For Pop Montreal Preview Event

Pop Montreal doesn't arrive until October, but organizers are making pre-emptive strikes to implant it in people's heads with two events over the next few weeks.

The fifth annual Fringe Pop fest will be held in the city's Parc Des Ameriques from June 19 to 22. It's being staged in collaboration with the St. Ambroise Montreal Fringe Festival, so you know there will be plenty of good beer on hand. And you should have money to buy some brews, since all the shows are free. A hat will be passed around, however, so don't be stingy.

Here's the Fringe Pop lineup:

June 19
6 p.m. LittleScream
7 p.m. The Witchies
8 p.m. Handsome Furs

June 20
6 p.m. The Wooden Sky
7 p.m. The D’Urbervilles
8 p.m. The Oholics

June 21
6 p.m. The Youjsh
7 p.m. Zeroes
8 p.m. Wintersleep

June 22
6 p.m. Deleplage
7 p.m. Random Recipe
8 p.m. Adam & the Amethysts

Pop Montreal is also involved in the Puces Pop Arts & Crafts Fair that will be held from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on May 31 in the basement of St. Michel Church at 105 St. Viateur Ouest. Some 65 artists, craftspeople and indie record label representatives will have their wares for sale.

Pop Montreal will be held from Oct. 1 to 5. Visit the event's website for more details.
