Dan Mangan Takes His Postcards And Daydreams Back On The Road

Vancouver folk singer/songwriter Dan Mangan is heading east to perform in support of his Postcards And Daydreaming debut.
Mangan just finished an Australian tour, which included a set at the Byron Bay Blues And Roots Festival. He's also played in the U.K. and the U.S. over the past year.
Mangan recently began working on Nice, Nice, Very Nice, the follow-up to Postcards And Daydreaming, which he hopes to release this fall. He's already put in a bit of studio time with producer John Ellis (The Be Good Tanyas, Barney Bentall).
"I'm waiting to hear back on a grant proposal, and hopefully some money will come in soon so I can get to work on the next record," Mangan wrote in a May 8 post on his website. "All the pieces are in line.. just need the funds.. so it'll be a busy year between all the touring and recording."
Mangan's mother was a United Church Of Canada minister, which meant he was exposed to church music in addition to the Beatles, Paul Simon and Van Morrison records that his parents kept at home. He could play the entirety of Abbey Road on the piano by the time he was seven years old. He released his All At Once debut EP in 2003 and followed it with the independently released Postcards And Daydreaming in 2005. That record was reissued by File Under: Music two years later.
