Kathleen Edwards Hits The Ice With Paul Coffey In New Video

The world championships just ended, and the NHL and CHL playoffs are now down to the finals, but hockey-loving Kathleen Edwards was put on ice while making the cool new video for “I Make The Dough, You Get The Glory.”

The new single from the rootsy singer/songwriter/guitarist’s Asking For Flowers album is about her friendship with one of her bandmates, but fans of the Edmonton Oilers dynasty of the ‘80s could be excused for thinking it dealt with that team when they heard the line “You’re the great one, I’m Marty McSorley” — a reference to superstar Wayne Gretzky and his on-ice bodyguard.

Edwards, who wrote a song called “Hockey Skates” for her Failer debut album, invited McSorley, his former teammate Paul Coffey, ex-NHL player Brad Dalgarno and Blue Rodeo singer/guitarist (and shinny warrior) Jim Cuddy to co-star in the recent 10-hour video shoot for “I Make The Dough, You Get The Glory” at Toronto’s St. Michael’s Arena. The clip should premiere within the next week.

Edwards is finishing a U.S. tour and will play four Canadian shows before heading to Europe in June. She’ll return for the Pemberton Festival in July. Here are her Canadian dates:
