Forward, Russia! Examine Life Processes On New Album

 Forward, Russia!

Leeds, England indie rockers Forward, Russia! will release their sophomore album, Life Processes, through Mute Records on July 22.

The 11-track album has been out in the U.K. since April. It was recorded in Seattle last year and produced by Matt Bayles (Mastodon, Pearl Jam). Life Processes is the first Forward, Russia! album to use song titles. The band previously used numbers to refer to their songs. Life Processes is also a concept album where each song tackles different phases in a person’s life.

”The themes are universal — fear, love, hate, pride, nervousness, confusion and finally acceptance,” says vocalist/keyboardist Tom Woodhead. “There is a beginning, a middle, and an end, in a literary sense as well as a musical one.”

Woodhead was previously in Leeds band The Black Helicopters with bassist Rob Canning. He and Canning formed Forward, Russia! in 2004, after they met drummer Katie Nicholls and guitarist Whiskas, who previously played in Les Flames! Forward, Russia! released three singles before they put out their Give Me A Wall debut in 2006. Woodhead is also in the electronica band AnteAter and was a finalist in the 2004 British Air Guitar Championship.
