Oasis Go Through Another Drummer

Oasis have said goodbye to drummer Zak Starkey following an alleged dispute and falling-out with guitarist Noel Gallagher.

According to the U.K.'s The Sun newspaper, Starkey will most likely never play live with Oasis again, and the band’s forthcoming album will be his last with them.

While Oasis haven’t made an official announcement about Starkey's departure, NME.com reports that they’ve already enlisted drummer Chris Sharrock to play on their upcoming tour. Sharrock has played with The La’s and Robbie Williams, another noted feuding partner with Noel, so his move into the Oasis camp is likely to fuel more flames.

Starkey is former Beatles drummer Ringo Starr's son with his first wife, Maureen Cox. Starkey, who drums with The Who, began playing live and recording with Oasis in 2004 to replace Alan White, who left the band during sessions for 2005's Don't Believe The Truth. Starkey never officially joined Oasis due to his commitments with The Who. Noel canned Oasis' original drummer, Tony McCarroll, in 1995 behind claims that he was incompetent.

Oasis' upcoming seventh studio album still doesn’t have a release date, but Liam Gallagher has been quoted saying it may come out in September. It’s being produced by Dave Sardy (Badly Drawn Boy, Rufus Wainwright), who also helmed Don't Believe The Truth.
