Amy Winehouse was formally cautioned by police when she admitted to assaulting a man at a London, England pub, and is also rumoured to be in the midst of divorcing her jailed husband, Blake Fielder-Civil.

Winehouse, 24, voluntarily arrived at a London police station on Friday to be questioned about an incident at a pub in London's Camden neighbourhood early last Wednesday morning.

According to the U.K.'s Times newspaper, the Grammy Award-winning singer was held overnight at the police station because she was found "unfit for interview," and was questioned on Saturday morning instead. Winehouse spokesman Chris Goodman issued a statement that said she "admitted to a common assault by slapping a man with an open hand and accepted a caution." Although Winehouse wasn't charged, the offense will remain on her record, which means it could be used against her in the future.

These latest events led Winehouse's father Mitch to state that she needs the kind of help that not even rehab can provide. He and her management team previously told Winehouse that she should go to rehab for her drinking — which prompted her to write a massive hit. He told the U.K.'s News Of The World that although he realizes he has no control over his daughter's actions, he now thinks she should be placed in a mental hospital for her own protection.

"The situation is out of control, I want her off the street. I want Amy to be safe and where no harm can come to her."

Rumours that Winehouse and Fielder-Civil's marriage is on the rocks have been floating about for a while. He appeared in a London courtroom on Friday to face charges of grievous bodily harm and attempting to pervert the course of justice and is still in jail. Winehouse met Fielder-Civil at a golf club in 2003 and the two were married last year. The couple have been offered a million pounds ($2.02 million Canadian) to pen a book about their tumultuous marriage.

According to News Of The World, Winehouse has begun a relationship with 22-year-old Alex Haines, a photographer and her manager's assistant. Haines is described as a "clean-cut" lad who "hates drugs." His stepfather, Roger Vine, said he was a bit surprised to hear his stepson might be involved with Winehouse.

"I believe that some people thought it might be very good for her image to be photographed with a clean-cut young man like Alex," Vine told The Press Association. "My son isn't a geek or anything, just clean-living. He's so far away from the image that's been painted of her — he doesn't drink much or do drugs. I do wonder if there isn't more behind it."

Mitch Winehouse confirmed the relationship, according to News Of The World, saying it had shocked him at first.

"I can't imagine Alex seducing Amy. He looks like Clark Kent. It was clearly the other way round."

News of this alleged new romance prompted U.K. tabloids like The Daily Star to report that Fielder-Civil is "devastated" and filing for divorce. The tabloid also reports that Winehouse may argue the marriage wasn't valid in the first place because the two had taken drugs before they were wed.

Whether or not Winehouse and Fielder-Civil split, both of their parents think it would be a good thing. According to The Daily Star, Fielder-Civil's mother said she would welcome the couple's divorce so Winehouse can stop using Fielder-Civil as a "punchbag." Winehouse has admitted to becoming violent with her husband when she's drunk. "The sooner my son gets rid of her, the better," Fielder-Civil's mother said.

Winehouse's mother, Janis, blames Fielder-Civil for her daughter's drug habit and says she would also welcome the end of the couple's marriage.

"I've said before that I wouldn't shed a tear if the marriage ended," Janis Winehouse told The Daily Star. "But that is for them and not me to decide. Hopefully, Amy has finally come to her senses."

Winehouse is one of the U.K.'s wealthiest young musicians. She ranked 10th on a list published by the U.K.'s Sunday Times, and reportedly has a fortune worth an estimated 10 million pounds ($20.17 million Canadian). Dhani Harrison, son of the late Beatle George Harrison, topped the list with riches of 160 million pounds ($322.80 million Canadian).
