More Ups And Downs For Brawling Heroine Amy Winehouse

Amy Winehouse has received both positive and negative attention in the U.K. this week. But since the salacious stuff is always more fun, let's start there.
British tabloids are reporting that the singer is being investigated by police for a string of assaults. Winehouse is said to have hit a patron of a pub in her Camden, London neighbourhood on Tuesday night because he wouldn't give way to her on a snooker table. A Morrocan musician named Mustapha El Mounmi told The Sun that he suffered a bruised eye and swollen lip from Winehouse's actions.
"I feel so angry. She smashed my face hard. I could not hit back — she's a woman."
Winehouse arrived at the pub with Babyshambles guitarist Mik Whitnall after allegedly drinking all day at her home. Winehouse is also friends with Babyshambles frontman Pete Doherty, who's serving a jail sentence for his drug use.
Winehouse moved on to another bar around 2 a.m., where an unnamed person who was there said: "She was off her face, throwing drinks around and turning over tables. Amy screamed, 'I am a legend, get these people out. I want to take drugs.'"
After Winehouse left that pub around 2:45 a.m., she's said to have headbutted a man who tried to help her get a cab because she allegedly thought he was trying to molest her. After being driven home, she got into a row with the cabbie after she tried to avoid paying the full fare because she didn't have enough cash — or her house keys. She was forced to get friends to help her break into her home via the garage.
If found guilty of assault, Winehouse could follow in the footsteps of husband Blake Fielder-Civil and be jailed and fined.
Photos and a video of Winehouse smoking a big spliff have also been circulating this week, offering further proof that her much publicized stint in rehab didn't do much for her.
More positively, Winehouse is said to be working on the theme song for the next James Bond movie with producer Mark Ronson. She was also nominated for three Ivor Novello Awards, which recognize the best British songwriters, on Monday.
Winehouse and her hubby have been offered up to $2 million for a book about their turbulent marriage, which isn't even quite a year old yet. Fielder-Civil has apparently agreed to do it (since he can use the cash a lot more than her), while Winehouse is said to still be in talks with Penguin Books.
Finally, Winehouse just finished second to the late Princess Diana (but first among those under 25) in a Sky.com poll to determine Britain's "ultimate heroine." The punchlines are too obvious even for us, so go ahead and create your own.
