Beat Union Get Disconnected On Debut

 Beat Union

Birmingham, England's Beat Union will release their Disconnected debut album on April 22 through Science Records.

The 11-song disc was produced by Goldfinger frontman John Feldmann (Good Charlotte, Story Of The Year), who flew the early punk and new wave-influenced band to Los Angeles to record. Three songs, including first single "Pressure Zone," can be heard on the band's MySpace page.

Beat Union were formed by several childhood friends. Dave Warsop (vocals, guitar) and Dean Ashton (guitar) have been playing in bands together since they were 11 years old. They formed their first band, Shooter McGavin, with Beat Union drummer Luke Johnson in 2000.

After Shooter McGavin broke up in 2002, Warsop and Ashton formed a new band called Shortcut To Newark. Johnson joined the band two years later after working in the U.S. as a session drummer with Los Angeles hardcore punks Amen. His aggressive drumming style prompted a change in sound and name. Bassist Ade Preston joined Beat Union soon thereafter and completed the band's current lineup. Beat Union have since toured with Bedouin Soundclash, Alexisonfire and Taking Back Sunday.

Beat Union will play the Hurley.com stage as part of the Vans Warped Tour from June to August. Catch them at the Toronto stop at Downsview Park on July 19 and at Montreal's Parc Jean Drapeau the following day.
