Coldplay's Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends Coming On June 17

After Coldplay said for months that they were nearly finished their fourth album, Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends will finally be released on June 17 by Capitol Records.

The band posted the album's 10-song track list on their website on Thursday. Viva La Vida was recorded in London, England, Barcelona, Spain and New York City. It was co-produced by Coldplay, Brian Eno (U2, Talking Heads) and Markus Dravs (Joseph Arthur). The title is taken from a painting by Mexican artist Frida Kahlo, and not the band's favourite Ricky Martin hip-shaker.

There were rumours the new album would be called Prospekt, which Coldplay quashed in January. A message on Coldplay's website last October said sessions with Eno had led to a more experimental sound on Viva La Vida.

"It feels like a very dense record," the post read. "There are so many melodies and colours packed into a relatively short space (42 mins)."

Coldplay will play the inaugural Pemberton Festival in Pemberton, B.C. on July 27.
