Patti Smith, Tegan Quin And Sea Wolf On Augusten Burroughs Audio Book

Some prominent music artists will contribute songs to the audio book for the new Augusten Burroughs memoir, A Wolf At The Table: A Memoir Of My Father, which is due on April 29.
The audio book, narrated by Burroughs (real name Christopher Robison), will feature music from Patti Smith and her daughter Jesse, Tegan And Sara's Tegan Quin, Ingrid Michaelson and Sea Wolf. The musicians read A Wolf At The Table and wrote songs as a response. You can hear three of the songs on Burroughs' website.
Most of the contributors are bookworms. Smith was heavily influenced by 19th century French poet Arthur Rimbaud's Illuminations collection. Quin, who recorded "His Love" at home in her library and home studio, has helped select books for Spin magazine's Book Of The Month column. Sea Wolf (real name Alex Church) takes his stage name from a Jack London novel.
Burroughs' latest memoir deals with the complicated and ambivalent relationship he had with his father. He's the author of several best-selling books, including: Dry, which details his recovery from alcoholism; and Running With Scissors, a memoir about his childhood and equally complicated relationship with his mother, which was made into a Hollywood movie starring Annette Benning and Joseph Fiennes.
Smith will record with Patrick Wolf sometime in the future. The two recently met at late poet Dylan Thomas' old house in Wales earlier this year and decided to collaborate after a jam session.
"We ended up playing three songs together on the saturday night, me on the harmonium and viola and patti singing a song called wind and ghandi," Wolf wrote in a MySpace blog entry. "On monday she taught me a melody she wrote about a three legged dog… we still have to work out the song to full completion. Soon we will be recording a little moment for the next album."
Sea Wolf will head to Canada in May and June with Brooklyn, N.Y.'s The Jealous Girlfriends. Here are their dates:
