Wolf Parade Finally Set To Release Sophomore Album

Wolf Parade

After two-and-a-half years since the release of Wolf Parade's Polaris Music Prize-nominated Apologies To The Queen Mary, the band are set to make their triumphant return this summer with a new album.

Wolf Parade's second full-length was recorded and engineered by drummer Arlen Thompson in their hometown of Montreal. It's scheduled to be released on CD and vinyl on June 17 by Sub Pop.

The band spent a lot of time improvising at the Montreal church/studio owned by Arcade Fire, and proper songs eventually emerged from these sessions. The still-untitled album was rumoured for a summer 2007 release under the title Pardon My Blues, but that didn't happen. Recent online speculation said it would be named Kissing The Beehive, the title of the album's 11-minute final song, but that remains unconfirmed.

"After Apologies… we wrote about four or five new songs, but we decided to throw them out because they sounded too much like what we'd already done," says singer/guitarist Dan Boeckner. "We could have easily made another Apologies… but what would have been the point?"

Wolf Parade fans weren't totally left without music from group members, however, as critically acclaimed side projects Sunset Rubdown and Handsome Furs issued four albums over the last three years to fill the void.

Here are the tracks on Wolf Parade's forthcoming album:

"Soldier's Grin"
"Call It A Ritual"
"Language City"
"Bang Your Drum"
"California Dreamer"
"The Grey Estates"
"Fine Young Cannibals"
"An Animal In Your Care"
"Kissing The Beehive"
