Juno Host Russell Peters Willing To Get With Avril

Comedian Russell Peters was his usual zany self backstage after Sunday night's Juno Awards broadcast. The host dropped by the media room to talk about what went down during the show.
"I had a great time. I'd host it 10 times over if they'd let me. I didn't feel stressed or pressured. I was digging it. I was glad I did it and I'm glad they let me do it. And they didn't say at any point, 'Russell, can you please hold back?' They were never like that, so that was very cool."
During the broadcast, Peters cracked jokes about how he wanted to get with Avril Lavigne. The issue apparently hadn't been put to rest and the comedian felt it necessary to keep the offer open.
"I know she's married, but you know it's 2008," he said. "I'm going to give her until 2010 and then, when the divorce is settled, I'll move in for the kill."
Peters talked about a couple of the new television and DVD projects he's working on.
"I recorded a new DVD at Madison Square Garden in New York in February. Right now, we're in the process of editing it and naming it. Look for that either next month or not until September. It's ready, but I just haven't found a name that I really like yet.
"I'm also doing a sitcom on Fox. We're just waiting for the pilot script to be submitted and approved, and then we'll move forward on that. It's called The Russell Peters Show and, that way, they can't fire me."
