Neverending White Lights Cover Nelly Furtado

Neverending White Lights

It seems the list of things going on in Daniel Victor's life is neverending.

The Neverending White Lights main man recorded a cover of Nelly Furtado's "Maneater" a few months ago, and has now posted it on his MySpace page. He's also made it available to purchase on iTunes as part of his World Is Darker EP, which also includes the single edit of the title track and a remix of "Always."

"I’ve realized that even though its a Pop 'jam', there is still sadness and beauty to it underneath it's glossy, danceable surface," Victor wrote in an email sent to fans on Tuesday. "I’m very very proud of this new version. You will find it almost 'crushing' in its production and sound."

Victor will be a busy goth-pop-rocker on April 18 and 19. Neverending White Lights will perform an acoustic set live on air at Toronto's 102.1 The Edge at 7 p.m. the first evening. The next day at 1 p.m., Victor will perform acoustically at Sunrise Records' 336 Yonge St. location in Toronto as part of its Record Store Day celebrations. IllScarlett, The Rizdales, Sunparlour Players, The Joys, Machete Avenue and Laura Barrett will also perform at the event, which is being held to "bring an identity back to the beauty, fun and value of the record retailer." Prizes and loot bags will also be given away.

Later that evening, Neverending White Lights will perform at Toronto's Music Hall. Among the guests who will join the group are Ours' Jimmy Gnecco and Catherine Wheel's Rob Dickinson. Another musician who was scheduled to take part, Melissa Auf Der Maur, has had to back out.

Victor posted this apologetic message from the former Hole and Smashing Pumpkins bassist on his website on Tuesday:

"I am sorry to announce that my spring season has made it impossible for me to be in Toronto on April 19th as I had originally hoped. If there was such a thing as a magic portal mirror, I would be there within an ancient gold frame. Instead I must remain faraway in body, but there in spirit and proud of my presence on 'The World is Darker'. It is bound to be a heavy romantic evening as you will be bathed in the beautiful and dramatic sounds of Daniel, Jimmy, Rob and the other fine guests and gents. Thanks to NWL for the invitation and I hope we can find another opportunity to perform together under another moon. I long to perform in Toronto soon but until then, I wish you all the best in love, health and music."

If Victor needs a replacement for Auf Der Maur, he should look no further than his new friend, Alesia Fieldberg. She might (but probably not) be better known to you as Miss Canada International 2008.

If your Victor fix still hasn't been satiated after all that, he'll throw a post-show party at The Revival with music from DJ Yoda and other guest spinners. The cost is $10 but, if you attend the Music Hall concert, you won't have to stand in line if you present your ticket stub.
