The Gossip: Live In Liverpool

The Gossip will release a live CD/DVD called Gossip: Live In Liverpool on April 15 through Columbia Records' Music With A Twist imprint.
Though they have slightly different track lists both were recorded and filmed on July 9, 2007 during the trio's stop in Liverpool, England. Both the CD and DVD include two slightly unorthodox covers: Wham!'s "Careless Whisper" and Aaliyah's "Are You That Somebody?" The DVD was directed by Lance Bangs (Pavement, Sonic Youth).
The Gossip formed in Searcy, Ark. in 1999 with a lineup that included Beth Ditto (vocals), Brace Paine (guitars/bass) and Kathy Mendonca (drums). After relocating to Olympia, Wash., The Gossip signed with K Records and released their self-titled debut EP in 2000. Their That's Not What I Heard full-length debut followed in 2001 via Kill Rock Stars. They've since relocated to Portland, Ore. and released two more studio albums and their first live record, Undead in NYC. Mendonca left the band in 2003 and was replaced by Hannah Blilie. The title track of 2006's Standing In The Way Of Control, about the American government's opposition to same-sex marriage, was a hit in the U.K.
Ditto recently recorded a live version of Heaven 17's "Temptation" with everyone's favourite dapper English gentleman, Jarvis Cocker. Proceeds from the Rough Trade single were donated to a U.K. housing charity called Shelter.
